With over a decade of coaching experience, Coach Q has dedicated the past 5 years to fostering talent within the Ocean Springs Middle School Program as the assistant coach. Before this, Coach Q spent 7 years honing skills and teamwork with the Ocean Springs Parks and Recreation Youth Volleyball Program, and concurrently served as the head sponsor for the OSUE Volleyball Club, nurturing the abilities of 6th graders. Additionally, Coach Q has invested 3 years in the South Mississippi Volleyball Club (MiniHits/Surge) and contributed expertise to the Ocean Springs High School Powerlifting Team, specializing in analyzing lift attempts for 3 consecutive years.
Coach Q's educational background includes an Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Broward University, with ongoing pursuit of a degree in the same field.
Coach Q firmly believes in the paramount importance of fundamentals in sports. Regardless of one's athletic aptitude, mastering the basics serves as the cornerstone of performance. They champion the ethos that diligent effort invariably surpasses inherent talent.
Throughout Coach Q's tenure at OSMS, the team clinched the District Championship thrice, secured second place once and attained third place in another season. Notably, they emerged victorious in the Gulfport Invitational for 4 out of 5 seasons and achieved a Silver Medal in the LAV Invitational '22/'23. Additionally, Coach Q's coaching endeavors with OS Parks and Rec yielded two championship wins and two runner-up titles. In 2023, the OSHS Powerlifting Team triumphed as State Champions under their guidance.
Coach Q's involvement in the sport includes serving as a setter for the Plantation High School boys' team in 1997 and 1998. Moreover, both of their daughters actively participate in volleyball at the school level.
Over the years, Coach Q has had the privilege of coaching exceptional young athletes, some of whom have transitioned to collegiate-level play, including representatives at PRCC. Presently, his eldest daughter is part of the intramural squad at Ole Miss.
Beyond sports, Coach Q harbors a passion for comic books, movies, and music, and indulges in collecting action figures. However, above all, their family is their anchor, and their children inspire them to excel in all their endeavors. A noteworthy tidbit about Coach Q is that their action figure collection was featured on an episode of Travel Channel's Toy Hunter.
